“Zen in Calligraphy” is a work of the series painted calligraphy using ink and mulberry paper. A longer text was written on top of each other over and over again until a painterly texture emerged.

Even if the final product may suggest arbitrariness in writing, it will only work if the rules of traditional Chinese calligraphy are carefully observed.

It was written exclusively with self-grinded Chinese ink, which makes the finest shades of gray possible.

The short video shows how Zen in Calligraphy was created. After each level a detail of the final stage is shown.
